Went out this afternoon armed with my cam and tried shooting things I see around my village. I spent the whole afternoon searching for interesting subjects but not that successful, I ended up shooting a Golden Sunset.

This isn't exactly something I took but I asked a friend if I could borrow the picture because I was thinking I could do something with it. It looks like an Anime character. My wife says it looks line one of those posters or covers for an Asian movie or telenovela.

Sunday found me with more than a dozen photographers over the hills of Antipolo. We went to shoot the metropolis. We occupied a big space and people were looking at us.

I've been coop-ed in the house for four days now and I had nothing else to shoot. Last night, I tried to take photos of the moon but I was not happy with that. So this morning, while puffing cigs, the smoke coming out of my cigarette gave me an idea.

This is what happens when you have a camera, you have nothing to do and your mind wanders. I am not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

Had coffee with some friends last night near ABS-CBN. Didn't realize lots of interesting subjects can be shot inside a coffee shop. Unfortunately, I had no flash last night, so I had to depend on the shoppe's light itself.

Bringing your camera all the time seems to make any place interesting.

My Very First Wedding

Thanks to my friend Kenneth Uy for giving me the opportunity to join him the other day.

This was the first time I took wedding photos. It was extremely exciting and now I know it is not easy. My hats off to those who do this regularly.

Looking forward to more opportunities with my colleagues this year.

Travelling back from Pagsanjan, I did not realize there could many subjects to take pictures of. I thought I could race time and take the perfect sunset but due to traffic and not finding a good area to take one, I failed to get the shot I wanted.

Because there was heavy traffic, I got hungry and decided to stop over and eat bulalo at Total Gas Station, which had a restaurant. I didn't have the chance to take pictures of the bulalo because I was too hungry already but after eating these are the pictures I took, playing around with lights.

1st World Pyro Olympics

The World Pyro Olympics is an annual international competition amongst the most prestigious fireworks companies in the world. Nine international participants will showcase the best of classical pyrotechnic displays. On the final eve of the event, the sky will be illuminated by The World Pyro Olympics Fellowship of Fire Pyrotechnic Display -a joint fireworks display from the nine countries and the organizer, La Mancha Pyro Productions.

The World Pyro Olympics will run through a period of five consecutive days thus allowing locals and tourists alike to experience the greatest fireworks performances all within a week’s time!

The event is set to be amongst the largest and most intense international fireworks competitions in the world. The 1st World Pyro Olympics is scheduled to take place this December 2005 at The Esplanade, Pasay City in the Philippines.

The event will be an arena for fun and festive entertainment! Musical performances, bazaars, floats, clowns and street performers are among the planned activities for the World Pyro Olympics.

This is the first time I tried my hand with night shots and fireworks. Thank God the weather was cooperative.

Hydro Olympics

Yup, it's not a typo. I really meant to type HYDRO Olympics instead of PYRO Olympics.

We were at Roxas Boulevard area last night, anticipating fireworks from the International PYRO Olympics that was being held there. But the weather was very bad and it rained so hard. Some of us were actually very wet, gears included.

So, instead of fireworks, this is what I took...the waters of Manila Bay:

I'm going back on Friday to see the last of the Pyro Olympics Exhibition so hopefully I get some good photos.

Art Of Violin

After Tiendesitas yesterday, my wife insisted we go to Megamall (70% sale, lahat ng tao nandun!). So anyway, while walking inside the mall I brought my camera with me, and found this exhibit. At first I didn't want to take pictures but my wife convinced me to ask the person looking over the art work so I asked permission to take photos and he allowed me. I was the only one taking photos there, nakaka-conscious! (These photos have already been processed and added my own take on it. Actual exhibit looks different and colorful).

Tiendesitas

Went to Tiendesitas too early today. Some of the shops are not yet even opened so I took photos instead. Fortunately, the guards there didn't mind that I was taking photos.

Tiendesitas is a Filipino shopping center and it's not your typical mall. It's not airconditioned, instead the stores are placed in big nipa hut like structures. The environment is very Filipino and the items they sell are Filipino products and delicacies. The food there is great!

Last Saturday, I was asked to cover a friend's baby's christening. This was the first time I got to cover such an occasion and I wasn't initiated to this sort of thing, I didn't know what to expect.

This Lioness was too evasive and was moving around and all of us who was there in the zoo had a hard time taking pictures. I was lucky I was in the right place at the right time to take a picture of her. I only wish I had a longer zoom lens.

Avilon Montalban Zoological Park 2

Avilon Zoo is a big area, covering around seven hectares of land. We had to walk all the way, to view the animals. There is a two hour tour and after which, you can roam the area freely.

The zoo is located at the foot of a mountain, if I'm not mistaken, Sierra Madre, in Montalban. This is the farthest place I went to for a photoshoot.

I've been hearing of Avilon Zoo before and I have not been there even if it's near my place. So when the guys decided to go there last Sunday, I took the chance and joined them.

Yup, Saturday and Sunday was a busy day for me. I went to two shoots and took thousands of pictures. I now have a backlog of pictures to process.

My Favorite Lens

After I tried my friend's Canon EF 28-135mm IS USM and shot these photos, I didn't even waste my time looking for another lens. Well, looking back I know the lens was in my possession temporarily but I dreaded day I have to return it to my friend.

Parting ways with that lens was depressing for me, until an angel named James Deakin. He was selling the same lense I have so grown fond of that I didn't even think twice about getting it.

I met James the other day and he told me that the lens he was selling me have been all over the world. Not only that, many pictures taken using the lens have been published in numerous magazines. I got more than a lens from James, he also shared to me some tips and stories. You can call me a satisfied buyer, definitely.

These are previous shots taken using the Canon EF 28-135mm IS USM and many more of these to come later on.
